Heather MaloneThe East Irondequoit Board of Education is excited to announce the appointment of Heather Malone as the Director of Special Education. Heather brings a wealth of experience and a deep passion for supporting students with unique learning needs. Since 2014, she has served as the Special Education Supervisor at Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES, where she supervised integrated and special class programs and related service staff. Prior to that, she was the Coordinator of Special Education at the Rochester City School District from 2011 to 2014. Heather's career began as a Speech Pathologist, where she delivered speech services, supported intervention services for language and literacy, and was a member of the RTI and Behavior Support Team.

Heather received her Master's in Education Leadership from St. John Fisher College in 2009, a Master's in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Nazareth College in 2003, and a Bachelor of Arts from SUNY Potsdam, majoring in Psychology and Communications with a minor in Linguistics. She is driven by a firm belief that all students can and will learn when provided with access, opportunities, and a belief in their abilities and contributions. Heather loves working collaboratively to create dynamic learners who possess social awareness, confidence, and a belief in their ability to succeed through high-quality and personalized learning opportunities.

Heather expressed her excitement about joining East Irondequoit, stating, "I am excited to join the East Irondequoit community. I am committed to fostering open dialogue with students, staff, and families. I value our work together to enhance learning opportunities to increase student outcomes in inclusive environments. My passion for working with and supporting the development of students with unique learning needs is endless." She looks forward to getting into classrooms to meet the students and staff that make this community the amazing place that it is.
