Mental Health Awareness and Resources
The East Irondequoit Central School District’s Social Emotional Learning Team, that consists of Social Workers, Psychologists, and Counselors, writes this letter to make you aware that May is Mental Health Awareness Month. The pandemic has created growing concern around youth mental health. Our goal is to provide awareness and resources related to:
Those living with mental or behavioral issues
Trauma and the impact it can have, and
Promoting positive mental health to prevent learning, behavioral, and emotional problems
In our schools we have a role to play in ensuring there is a full continuum of supports designed to
promote positive mental health,
prevent learning, behavior, and emotional problems,
intervene as early as feasible when such problems arise, and
help in the treatment of social emotional and behavioral problems.
The district values the continued development of a comprehensive and equitable social emotional learning continuum with tiers of support and resources that promote positive mental health. For students that require more support, the district offers interventions within the district as well as assists in connecting families to outside community resources.
What can parents/guardians do if they have concerns?
Each building in the district has a team of Social Emotional Learning Professionals that can assist families in finding the best supports and resources that meet their child’s specific needs. You can find contact information below by school.
