Programs

Eastridge offers a comprehensive high school program with several college preparatory options including the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, International Baccalaureate Career Related Programme,  Project Lead the Way, Monroe Community College Dual Enrollment courses, and various Advanced Placement courses.

Eastridge is an International Baccalaureate World School (IB), offering the full diploma program for students and IB certificate courses for students in grades 11-12.  The IB Diploma Program is an academically challenging and balanced educational program that prepares students to succeed in postsecondary education and life beyond.  In this program, students learn critical thinking skills, how to compare and contrast information, manage their time effectively, work independently and with others, and to consider global perspectives.  The IB mission is to promote international understanding, responsible world citizenship, and life-long learners who think critically through high academic standards.

Research shows that students who participate in IB coursework enroll more frequently in college, are better prepared for the challenges of college-level work, and graduate on time more frequently that those students who do not take IB coursework.  IB courses available at Eastridge include: IB English Language & Literature, IB French, Italian and Spanish, IB History of the Americas, IB Biology, IB Environmental Systems & Societies, IB Applications and Interpretations, IB Analysis and Approaches, IB Dance, IB Music, IB Visual Arts, and Theory of Knowledge.   East Irondequoit is committed to ensuring that cost is not an obstacle for our students.  To that end, our district fully funds the International Baccalaureate Programs so there is no cost to students.

Programs of study are available in English, World Languages (French, Spanish), History, Science, Math and the Arts, including Dance, Music, and Visual Arts.  Courses are offered at the IB, AP, Regents and local levels.  All Regents level Earth Science, Biology, Chemistry and Physics courses include an additional laboratory block weekly.  Students may begin high school level mathematics  and Living Environment Regents in eighth grade.  Students are encouraged to take courses at the most challenging level appropriate to their abilities.

Students can take technology courses as part of the PLTW (Project Lead the Way) Program. These courses are dual college credit bearing and offer pre-engineering material.  Students taking Engineering courses in PLTW may apply this coursework towards the IB Career Program.  Eastridge is proud to be one of only a handful of schools in New York State to offer the IBCP, which combines a course sequence focused on Engineering with the rigors of the IB program.

Advanced Placement courses allow students to gain a head start on college level studies. Advanced Placement courses include  Physics, Environmental Science, Calculus, American History, World History, and Statistics.  Eastridge offers several courses with the opportunity to earn MCC Dual Enrollment in Business, World Languages, Math and Social Studies.  Beginning and advanced level vocational courses are provided through cooperative programs with Monroe One BOCES.  Elective programs are also offered in Business, Engineering, Health, Physical Education and Technology.  Electives are offered in both academic and vocational subject areas.

AVID stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination; it is a program designed to help students in the academic middle to enroll and succeed in rigorous coursework, with the eventual goal of attending a four-year college or university.

  • International Baccalaureate/PLTW - 6 points

Students must earn at least a grade of 65% or better to pass a course. Music lessons and physical education are not included in the class ranking process.  Under our grading system, these letter grades correspond to the following achievement levels:
