Great day at DE. CELEBRATING OUR STUDENTS OF THE MONTH AND OUR DE MUSIC MAKERS with Mrs. Rosati!

The best Central Office staff around! I asked folks to join me in Dressing in BLUE today to kick off Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. The best school staff around also joined me. So honored! DE was BLUE!

I was so impressed with Mrs Barrett's 5th graders during this Book Club. The writing, verbal responses, the respectful debating was awe inspiring for 5th graders! I felt like I was listening to a bunch of college kids. And. That is not an overstatement! 👏👏👏

Amazing DE's Got Talent. So proud of all of our students who performed. Too many pics to post here! So much courage in front of a live audience!!!

Best of luck to the students performing in DE's Got Talent tonight! Here's a sneak peek from their dress rehearsal: https://eastirondequoit.smugmug.com/Durand-Eastman/2022-23/DEs-got-talent-rehearsal #WeAreEI

Great day at DE. We had our reading incentive party (posted earlier), kicked off our day at our PURPLE Assembly where our student Culture and Climate Kids presented, and our 5th and 3rd Math buddies working together! These are the days that validate our WHY!

DE students that read 10 books this year got a special treat today! Hot cocoa, cookies and a craft with Mr. Roach. Almost 70 students earned this reward, keep up the good work DE! Check out all the pictures: https://tinyurl.com/hkn2pmdc #WeAreEI

Today was our PBIS Winter Day complete with hot cocoa! Add this with Mrs Barrett’s 5th grade Reading Buddies to Mrs Duquette’s 3rd grade readers and you have the makings of a Ton of Fun! #kidshelpingkids #We_Are_DE

It was a Bills Day today at DE! Students created #3 badges in support Damar! One even made one for Mr Roach for his Dolphins Jersey. I was more than happy to wear it! Damar continues to touch so many in such a positive way, even 3rd graders! #compassion #kindness #DEKidsRock

Ahead of #MLKDay, Ms. Menelas and Miss. Kim's 5th grade class at DE completed a project called, "What Would it Look Like if Martin Luther King, Jr. had an Instagram?"
Students first took part in a classroom gallery walk through where they analyzed photos of MLK during the civil rights movement, using them as project inspiration in order to accurately capture what he may have posted to his own Instagram if it were possible when he was alive. #WeAreEI
What a creative project! More photos here: https://eastirondequoit.smugmug.com/Durand-Eastman/2022-23/MLK-Project-MenelasKims-class
